News: Wow... first level 80 in World of WarCraft in 27 hours

Misc. News Repost from original story here

By Frank Caron | Published: November 14, 2008 - 12:40PM CT

Well, that didn't take long. Just over 24 hours after the release of Wrath of the Lich King, the latest expansion for Blizzard's beloved World of WarCraft, one player has already managed to reach the new level cap. Nymh, a warlock playing on the European Hand of A'dal server, has won the title of the world's first level 80 with a clocked time of 27 hours.

Using a specific strategy and set list of grinding locations researched in the beta, Nymh and a few of his compatriots managed to climb the game's new levels with relative ease. "I spent some time on beta servers and eventually found the crypt in Drakil'ji Ruins (Grizzly Hills), I think that's one of the only places in Wrath of the Lich King where monsters repop in about 30 seconds, mobs here are also neutral and it makes grinding a little safer," he told MMO Champion. "I also had to optimize my downtimes and decided to level with a healer out of party, Pavelomm was nice enough to spend the last 27 hours healing me without taking any XP and he obviously played a huge role in the process."

While others have made the claim in less time, Blizzard has banned a few players for using exploits on the way and Nymh apparently stands as the first legit 80.

Clearly, grinding through the content of a newly-released expansion doesn't exactly make for the most compelling game experience one can have. But you almost have to admire the dedication that went into this grind. It may be joyless, but it is impressive.

36 Boxer!!!
Posted by Fezgig on Friday, October 10 @ 22:27:07 EDT
Ok, many of you know I multi box and have been working on my two taurens for the last few months. I searched the internet and stumbled accross this site.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you.

This guy actually is playing 36 accounts at once.

"A lot have asked me, why create so many? The main reason is to invade Stormwind and Ironforge when they reach top level. I'm sure the Alliance will put up a big fight when that happens. We'll see how it goes. If they don't make level 70 before Wrath of the Lich King, then it will be at level 80. That is my main goal. That will probably happen after I've got some PvP gear from the battlegrounds. I'm also planning to do some 25 and 10 man raid instances but that is secondary to my PvP goal. Of course I'll be doing arenas too to build up PvP gear but I'm not expecting to do that great there because I'm way behind in gear right now. I need to get to level 70 first, then level 80 and by then I will probably have all green gear while most others have been doing the battlegrounds and arenas.

It costs me exactly 5711 dollars in subscription costs per year with 36 accounts on the 6 month pay schedule. Not bad considering I'm looking at it like it's a hobby and there are more expensive hobbies out there than World of Warcraft.">

Here is how he does it...

News: International Talk Like a Pirate Day!
Posted by Fezgig on Friday, September 19 @ 18:52:18 EDT
International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday invented in 1995 by John Baur (Ol' Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), of Portland, Oregon, who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with "Hello," but with "Ahoy, me hearty!" The holiday, and its observance, springs from a romanticized view of the Golden Age of Piracy.

Here is some pirate language to use on ITLAPD.
"Bring me one noggin of rum, now, won't you, matey."
"Avast, there!"
"Dead men don't bite."
"Shiver my timbers!" (often pronounced as "Shiver me timbers!")
"Fifteen men on the dead man's chest -- Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!"
"There! That's what I think of ye. Before an hour's out, I'll stove in your old block house like a rum puncheon. Laugh, by thunder, laugh! Before an hour's out, ye'll laugh upon the other side. Them that die'll be the lucky ones."
The archetypal pirate grunt "Arrr!" (alternatively "Rrrr!" or "Yarrr!")
